Expert

It was unavoidable. Another discussion on ICT and the developing world came up like so much intellectual flotsam - adrift and directly in my path. I suppose the trouble of my path is that it is one of exploration; it is not a straight line. There is a lot to be learned in meanderings. Still, I read carefully and responded to so many experts - but they failed to actually answer my questions or points. The exact topic of the conversation is actually as meaningless as the discussion itself was.

I am always stunned to hear people lauded as experts - I wonder if Paracelsus had much to do with that as he named a creation from the same root. There is a certain poetic reason to that link - a deodorized tincture of opium.

Either experts put one to sleep, or they themselves are asleep.

And this brought to mind a particular quote:

An expert is a man who has stopped thinking. -- Frank Lloyd Wright

I hope to never become an expert.
