Cave

Cave

Tyrico Bay; Western areaThere is something brutally honest about a cave - what you see in the cave is what is in there, and what is outside of the cave can only be viewed from within. There is no panoramic view; the focus is always what is in front of the cave. Alone, there are no extraneous sounds or things to watch within the cave - a person can focus on other things instead of the dull roar of a reality sweeping in from every direction.

And still, what is in the cave is subject to the entire world outside. In a way, it is a sensory illusion; a cave on the beach is subject to the tides and winds and even the weather - the rock above may be porous enough for the water to leak through. Indeed, the rock probably is porous enough if it is a natural cave.

Still, there is a security in the cave. A privacy, a place for contemplation - it is probably no mistake that crazy and/or wise people are culturally associated with caves of some form, be they on a mountain or on a beach. There's the natural protection from the elements, and a cave remote enough also has natural protection from the crazy people on the planet.

I think I need a cave.
